What Happens to My Phone System If My Internet Goes Down?
It is the most common objection to switching from a traditional phone system to VoIP: but what if my internet goes down? It is a legitimate question. VoIP calls travel over the internet — so if the internet is unavailable, calls cannot travel over it. But the real answer is more nuanced than a simple yes or no, and there are several layers of protection that mean internet downtime rarely means phone downtime for a prepared business.
If your office internet connection goes down and you have no failover in place, inbound calls to your business number will hit the system — but will not be able to reach your office phones because they are offline. Configured correctly: calls route to your mobile device via DiaVoice Go over cellular data, to a backup number, or to your AI receptionist which handles the call from the cloud.
